Know these cold
- OSI 7 layers bottom-up: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application.
- TCP is reliable (handshake, retransmit); UDP is fast (no connection, no guarantee) — choose based on the application's need.
- DHCP assigns IP/mask/gateway/DNS; ARP resolves IP to MAC on the local LAN.
- Switches forward by MAC; routers forward by IP; WAPs connect wireless devices to the wired LAN.
